ZANZIBAR ISLAND EXCURSIONS

AASZE 01 -Old Stone TownStone Town Tour

It takes almost 3hrs duration to explore the very fantastic history of this extraordinary site with it's narrowest streets in the world. As a cosmopolitan archipelago, Stone Town prouds of its amazing strong introduction of Indians, Chinese, Oman Arabs, Phoenicians, Sumerians, Persians, Assyrians, Portuguese, Egyptians, Dutch and British Cultures Combined with typical African traditions. The Arab tradition is predominant in Urban design and architecture of stone town where the most impressive and admirable residential structures in town are the large Arab houses with a Central Courtyard (Patio) built in around 19th C.With an exotic mixture of population and Culture, Stone town have more than 49 mosque, 2 Christian churches, 2 Operating Cinemas, 6 Banks, 4Hindu templates, several shops, Supermarkets, the buildings need repair and some have had collapsed already. AASZE 02 -Mangapwani Slave Cave

Mangapwani Slave Cave is not natural, but cut out of the coral limestone. It is a sort of cellar, more or less a square-shaped cell. It was built for storing slaves by Mohammed Bin Nassor Al-Alawi, a prominent slave trader. Boats from Africa (Tanzania) landed at the nearby beach and unloaded their human "cargo". The slaves were kept here until they were taken to Zanzibar Town or to Oman.In 1873 Sultan Barghash signed the Anglo-Zanzibari treaty which officially abolished the slave trade. Some time after the cave was still used as a place to hide slaves, as an illicit trade continued for many years. Today, the cave itself remains, although the wooden roof under which the slaves were hidden has now gone. There are steps which lead down onto the cavern floor.

AASSZE 03 -Nungwi Village Tour

Full day excursion to the extreme north of the island via Maruhubi, and Mvuleni where you can visit the Portuguese Ruins. There are number of very interesting things to see and do including the traditional fishing village itself with resident speaking a peculiar swahili dialect. Then the turtle aquarium with various species. A traditional boat yard and local market are amazing. At the end of the walk you can either relax on the sandy beaches or go swimming in the natural sea. Lunch and refreshments are arranged there to taste local delicacies or international food.

AASZE 04 -Zanzibar Cultural Tour

This tour gives you an insight of the Swahili life style .The tour drives you to see the fabrication of Zanzibari doors (at the building site) which are very famous in the world. We then proceed to the north up to Mkokotoni village, Mkokotoni is the famous fishing village in Zanzibar. Here we see the selling of fish and busy fishermen who bring their fish from the fishing. Then we proceed to Nungwi Village where we see how the wooden dhows and boats are fabricated. then we stay in the beach and swim in the see. In this tour you can also see traditional Swahili house in different village on our way to Nungwi. The guide from the departure point up to Nungwi will be busy telling you the traditional life style of Swahili people and their origin.

AASZE 05 -Spice Tour

This is the only tour which will let you know as why zanzibar is called the spice island. It is done in the Country side about half an hour driving from the historic Stone Town. With the aid of our well educated and experienced guides, you will have known the life cycle and uses of various types of spices, tropical fruits and root crops after being taught in detail. Learning and watching the typical environment of Zanzibar as well as experiencing zanzibar Village life are amongst other things that you are going to be benefited with. Either this tour include a visit to some historical places such as Maruhubi Palace ruins, Kidichi persian bath and the highest point of Zanzibar which is 390 feet above sea level. AASZE 06- Dolphins Tour

This full day excursion will take you to the southern part of zanzibar about one and half an hour driving from the historic stone town. After getting there we take a motorized boat so as to reach the dolphin zone for about five to ten minutes. After swimming and playing with the very friendly dolphins for several hours you will have automatically been given a chance of admiring the wonderful coral reef, Variety of colored fishes and other attractive marine creatures through snorkeling. After taking lunch and shower you will be spoiling yourself on a white sandy beach with beach relaxation before getting's back on board for a trip back to the hotel.

AASZE 07 -Prison Island

It hardly takes half an hour driving by motorized boat to reach the wonderful west based historic island. It is originally called Changuu and was owned by wealthy Arabian merchant who used it as detention Centre for disobedient slaves during slavery. Under the Leadership of the third Sultan of Zanzibar, just after the abolition of slave trade in 1873, the prison for intending to keep recalcitrant prisoners was constructed to keep the standing name " PRISON ISLAND". How ever, the Island was then used as the quarantine station of all of east African countries following the Out break of cholera disease along the coast of East African coast where the victims were collected in different parts before being sent to changuu Island for further treatment. The Island was also used as an accommodation site for those prisoners obtained from the second world war. With its fantastic white sandy beach and spectacular natural forest teeming with variety of birds and small animals such peacocks and giant tortoise etc, the island is very famous for its richness in water based natural attractions hence it is among the best site for diving and snorkeling as well. Everything is still existing, although most of them have become decrepit.

AASZE 08 -Jozani Forest

Zanzibar’s first and only National Park is centered on Jozani Forest ,the largest area of mature forest found within Zanzibar ,where is home for rare Red Colobus Monkeys which are species rare in the World and mangrove forest With salt marshes. Also Zala Park is a small nature reserve Captive animals exhibits include Tree hyraxes and variety of Reptiles, such as Green tree snakes, Mambas and some big Pythons, Chameleons, Geckos, Tortoises, Striped Lizards And Monitor Lizards are included amongst the legged reptiles.

AASZE 09 -Ufufuma Reserved Forest

Just 45 minutes driving from historic Old Stone town to reach the most wonderful, Spectacular and virgin natural forest in Zanzibar. This beautiful and attractive forest accumulate variety of birds, animals, trees, plants and insects such as wild pigs, butter flies, bats, red colobus monkeys, ader's duick........etc.......etc. The forest is rich in history as it is the former residence of Mzee ufufuma who was the chief of this area during 13th C. Accompanied by an amazing sounds and noises of red colobus monkeys, birds, insects and information in detail about the history of the forest, caves which played as houses for Our ancestors during 13th C. and individual, social, cultural and economic importance of the forest, We hope that our leisure walk to his residence will be more shortened and luxurious. His three horrific caves which used as a house to live in, Conference centre and a well respectively are still existing and are now used by witch doctors and craftsmen and women as traditional spiritual centers where special talents, blessings, richness, cure and protection against diseases and witch craft are provided among the believers. worry not should we meet them in action as some will be rolling down naked, some of them will be singing, creping their hands and other doing this and that and what ever.
